patient information
Bayside Eye Specialists is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm.
Please allow approximately two hours for your visit, and where possible arrange for someone to bring you. Bring any glasses, contact lenses (and a lens case) or drops with you.
When you arrive for your appointment you will see an Orthoptist prior to seeing your Doctor. The Orthoptist is a university-trained clinician who performs highly specialised tests of vision function to assist in the ongoing care of your eyes.
Drops may be used to dilate your pupils to allow your Doctor to thoroughly examine your eyes. This is fairly standard on your first visit. These drops take 20-30 minutes to work, and will affect your near vision. Sunglasses will help to minimise the glare caused by dilating your pupils. It can take up to three hours for your vision to return to normal and we suggest that you avoid driving during this time.
Your Doctor may also organise other tests or treatment for you on the day of your visit. Bayside Eye Specialists is equipped with state of the art diagnostic equipment, including the IOL Master and Humphrey visual field machine, as well as the Ellex Tango Laser.
We aim to make your visit as comfortable as possible with our relaxing waiting area, current reading material, and dedicated children’s play area. Our friendly and professional staff are here to make your visit a pleasant one.
