Dr Damien Louis

Dr Damien Louis is a fellowship trained ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of diseases of the retina including: Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein Occlusions.

Damien completed her university degree in South Australia at Flinders University of South Australia and then spent two years working at Kura Yerlo, the Aboriginal Health Centre in Adelaide. She started her ophthalmology training in South Australia at Flinders Medical Centre and Alice Springs and then moved to Victoria to complete her ophthalmology training at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. She was the senior registrar for the Department of Ophthalmology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2000 before travelling to Oxford England to complete a fellowship in medical retina.

Damien is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retinal Specialists. She is a consultant at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in the Medical Retina Clinic. For the last 5 years she has been involved in several major research projects at RVEEH, including trialing new treatments for diabetic retinopathy.
